Jonathan Breslin

Jonathan Breslin contributes Hospital News’ Ethics Column on a bi-monthly basis. Jonathan Breslin received his PhD in philosophy, specializing in bioethics, from McMaster University in 2003.  After completing a Fellowship and Senior Fellowship in Clinical and Organizational Ethics at the University of Toronto Joint Centre for Bioethics he was hired by North York General Hospital to build and lead their first comprehensive ethics program.  He left North York General in March 2012 and is now an independent ethics consultant and educator.  Jonathan is also an Assistant Professor in the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at U of T, where he teaches a third year course on ethical issues in death and dying.

Kevin Reel

Kevin Reel

Kevin is a practicing healthcare ethicist in Toronto, Ontario and the Chair of the Canadian Association of Practicing Healthcare Ethicists, a pan-Canada group of healthcare ethics practitioners working to develop practice within the field.  Kevin began studying medical ethics as an undergraduate in occupational therapy and subsequently completed an MSc in Medical Ethics at Imperial College, London (2002) and a Fellowship in Clinical and Organizational Ethics through the Joint Centre for Bioethics at the University of Toronto.  He is a registered occupational therapist and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy at the University of Toronto.
