Empowering healthcare facilities to uphold the highest hygiene standards

Published on

While healthcare professionals have always adhered to stringent hand hygiene standards, the COVID-19 pandemic has made accessibility to education and training even more critical.

Tork, the global leading professional hygiene brand, supports those on the front lines by providing effective hygiene solutions that make upholding hygiene compliance easier. With a focus on hand hygiene training and an expanded range of Tork skincare products, Tork helps healthcare facilities secure the high hygiene standard expected of these environments, without disrupting patient care.

The free Tork Clean Hands Training is a great way to kick-start your hand hygiene training program, and is designed to make hand hygiene training more engaging and inspiring for healthcare staff with a variety of factors in mind:

Best Practices – In a fun, interactive format, the Tork Clean Hands Training draws from the World Health Organization’s (WHO) 5 Moments of Hand Hygiene, laying the foundation for effective hand hygiene protocols. These five moments include:

  • Before touching a patient
  • Before a clean/aseptic procedure
  • After body fluid exposure risk
  • After touching a patient
  • After touching a patient’s surroundings

Realistic Simulations – The training which is available via a virtual reality (VR) app, to be used with a mobile device, or via desktop, allows trainees to face a series of real-life situations acting as a physician or a nurse and practice proper hand hygiene compliance. If a participant fails to perform hand hygiene at the right moment, they are corrected, and prompted to try again. At the end of the game, results are presented sharing with the participant the number of hand hygiene opportunities they were presented with, the number of missed opportunities they had, their compliance percentage and other observations in their hygiene performance. This interactive training will aid staff learn and adopt excellent hand hygiene standards.

Accessibility – To empower healthcare professionals to achieve the highest hygiene standards, minimal equipment is needed. For the desktop version, just register via the Tork Clean Hands Training site to access the training. If the participant prefers the mobile device version, the free Tork VR Clean Hands app needs to be downloaded via the App Store or Google Play and VR googles are needed. To ensure that the training is accessible to a wide audience, it is available in seven languages: English, German, Polish, Dutch, French, Spanish, Arabic.

Alongside a robust hand-hygiene training program, healthcare facilities must provide efficacious and efficient skincare solutions to help healthcare staff uphold hygiene and mitigate the spread of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs). Today, people scrutinize not only how and when they wash their hands, but also the efficacy and quality of hand hygiene products. Tork offers a high-quality skincare line designed for use in hygiene critical environments, such as hospitals and long-term care facilities. These solutions are proven and formulated specifically to kill germs and help prevent disease transmission. To learn more about hand hygiene, visit Tork.ca/cleanhands.
